Kai grew up drawing, playing soccer, chess, and video games in Southern California. Raised on science fiction classics like Flight of the Navigator, Enemy Mine, and Tron, the shows Babylon 5 and Star Trek are what hooked him and created a lifelong love of science fiction, which culminated in a science fiction novel.
